Up-&-Coming// Foreign Office.

Tying in with the approaching release of London based four piece; Foreign Office’s “Alaska EP” set for release and UK tour, the band are starting to receive some of the notoriety and exposure that they should have gained over a year ago, with their debut single- “Leaving The House” and it’s follow up; “On Repeat.”

Both purvey the band’s unique blend of 60’s/70’s soul and 80’s post-punk. “Leaving The House” has a vivacious bass line and an incredibly infectious chorus, whereas the strongest feature of “On Repeat” are the jangly, hooky, complimenting guitar and keyboard lines. Alongside the stuttering vocal climax. Both songs that are sure to be looped on repeat in your head after just one listen.

The new EP is also good; furthermore it still purveys the band’s “Post-Punk Soul” style. But the sound is more raw and representative of their live performances. First track, “Hand & Knees” is the most exciting, with their typical groove based melodies under Paul Cousins’ outstanding, yearning vocals. Whereas “Throw Me Overboard” demonstrates a nostalgia similar to that of Roxy Music, as does “Shake Hands With The Knife.”

Therefore Foreign Office is most certainly a band worth checking out, also make sure you download their EP for free on October 17th and catch them on their tour (Poster Below).
