Single// CANT, Too Late, Too Far.

Imagine taking a house music compilation record outside into blistering hot sun on a bright summer’s day, and then as it begins to play, it starts to melt from the unbelievable heat. The result would be something similar to the new single from CANT, it’s the sort of track that digs its claws into your skin as soon as the opening drumbeat kicks in, and doesn’t let go until its bizarre, draining outro.
As Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor’s vocals are cued over the electronic jungle sounding instrumentation, his voice becomes trippy and submerged in the track’s back beat, sounding more like a physical instrument than a common voice box. Then out of nowhere a synthesizer is introduced, taking the array of weird and wonderful on a vivid journey through the history of dance music.
A very strange track that requires a good few listens until it becomes clear that it is, infact, just a song rather than an unearthly hallucogenic dream. Either way a great new style from Chris Taylor’s side project, one to look out for.

 Jonathan Hatchman.
